Who I Am
My name is Amanda Porter. I have been teaching for 11 and a half years but have been in education for 16 years.
I began in 2002 as a paraprofessional with Jefferson Elementary and then decided to pursue a teaching degree. After completing my Bachelor's degree from Piedmont in December 2006, I taught kindergarten at Banks County Primary for the remainder of the year. I then taught 2nd grade at Commerce Primary for 5 years and then 4th grade at Commerce Elementary for 4 years. I went back to Piedmont College to earn my Master's degree in 2012. I have also added Gifted and ESOL endorsements.
My husband, Tommy, and I live in Jefferson with our three children, daughters Alex and Kiley, and our son Tripp. In my free time I enjoy reading, hiking, painting, and watching my children in their various sports. I also enjoy supporting my former and current students in their sports.
